Please Read Carefully. These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the Revolution EDA platform, software, and services. By using our services you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Revolution EDA’s website, software, tools, documentation, or any related services (collectively, the “Services”), you (“User” or “you”) agree to be legally bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you are accessing the Services on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately cease using the Services. Revolution EDA reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Services following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
2. Description of Services
Revolution EDA provides open-source and commercial electronic design automation (EDA) software, tools, plugins, APIs, and related services designed to facilitate the design, simulation, verification, and layout of electronic circuits and systems.
Our Services may include:
- Schematic capture and simulation tools
- Layout editors and design rule check (DRC) utilities
- Plugin frameworks and extension APIs
- Documentation portals and user guides
- Community forums, support channels, and release repositories
- Commercial licensing and enterprise support packages
Revolution EDA reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time without prior notice.
3. User Accounts & Registration
Certain features of the Services may require account registration. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep your account information updated.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account
- You must notify Revolution EDA immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accounts may not be transferred, sold, or shared with third parties without prior written consent
⚠ Account Security: Revolution EDA will never ask for your password via email or chat. If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your credentials immediately and contact support.
4. License & Intellectual Property
Revolution EDA grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services in accordance with these Terms and the applicable software license agreements.
Open-source components of the platform are made available under their respective open-source licenses (e.g., GPL, LGPL, MIT). Commercial components are subject to separate commercial license agreements.
- All trademarks, logos, and brand identifiers remain the exclusive property of Revolution EDA
- You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of proprietary components without express written permission
- User-generated content (designs, schematics, scripts) remains owned by the User; by submitting content to shared services, you grant Revolution EDA a non-exclusive license to store, display, and serve that content
- Contributions to open-source repositories are governed by the applicable contributor license agreement (CLA)
5. Prohibited Use
You agree not to use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful, harmful, or prohibited by these Terms. Specifically, you must not:
- Use the Services to design weapons systems, circumvent export control regulations, or violate applicable law
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble proprietary software components
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, network, or data
- Introduce malware, viruses, or any other harmful code into the Services
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Services without prior written consent
- Use the Services to harass, defame, or infringe the rights of other users
- Resell or sublicense access to the Services without authorization
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using the Services
⚠ Export Controls: EDA software and technologies may be subject to EU dual-use export control regulations (EU Regulation 2021/821) and Dutch export control laws administered by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable export control laws in your jurisdiction.
6. Payments & Subscriptions
Some Services are available on a paid subscription or one-time purchase basis. By purchasing a subscription or product, you agree to the applicable pricing and payment terms displayed at the time of purchase.
- All fees are quoted in Euros (EUR) unless otherwise stated and are exclusive of applicable VAT and other taxes
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
- Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed
- Revolution EDA reserves the right to modify pricing with reasonable advance notice
- Non-payment may result in suspension or termination of access
ℹ Open Source: The core Revolution EDA platform is available free of charge under an open-source license. Commercial features and enterprise support are available as paid add-ons.
7. Privacy & Data
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Revolution EDA processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Implementation Act (Uitvoeringswet AVG). By using the Services, you acknowledge that your data is processed on the lawful bases described in our Privacy Policy.
Revolution EDA acts as the data controller for personal data collected through the Services. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to its processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Revolution EDA implements appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data. We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from user negligence or third-party actions beyond our control.
- We do not sell personal data to third parties
- Design files and project data stored locally are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use cloud services
- Anonymized usage analytics may be collected to improve the Services
8. Disclaimers & Warranties
⚠ As-Is Basis: To the extent permitted under Dutch and EU law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties beyond those mandatorily required by law. Where you are a consumer within the EU, statutory warranty rights under applicable consumer protection law (including the Dutch Civil Code, Burgerlijk Wetboek) are not excluded or limited by these Terms.
Revolution EDA does not warrant that:
- The Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs or defects
- Results obtained from use of the Services will be accurate or reliable
- The Services will meet your specific requirements or expectations
- Any defects or errors will be corrected within a specific timeframe
EDA tools are provided as design aids only. Final design verification, manufacturing decisions, and regulatory compliance remain the sole responsibility of the User. Revolution EDA assumes no liability for design errors, manufacturing failures, or related losses.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted under Dutch law and applicable EU regulations, Revolution EDA and its officers, directors, employees, affiliates, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Loss or corruption of design data or intellectual property
- Cost of substitute goods or services
- Damages arising from manufacturing defects attributable to design errors
- Any damages arising from unauthorized access to your account
In no event shall Revolution EDA’s total aggregate liability exceed the greater of (a) the amounts paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred euros (€100).
10. Termination
Revolution EDA reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to breach of these Terms, illegal activity, or non-payment.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or using the account deletion functionality within your account settings.
- Upon termination, your license to use the Services immediately ceases
- Provisions that by their nature survive termination (including IP rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) shall remain in effect
- Revolution EDA may retain certain data after account termination where required by law or for legitimate purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable GDPR retention obligations
11. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, including applicable EU regulations. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is expressly excluded.
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved as follows:
- Parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation within 30 days of written notice
- If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
- For consumers in the EU, alternative dispute resolution is available through the European Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr
- Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking urgent interim relief from a competent court
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
